Born and raised in Sacramento, CA. Current MFA candidate at the University of Illinois Chicago.

My work is focused on the figure. I make drawings with vine or willow charcoal on paper, which I then soak in water to decay the lines and create atmosphere. These drawings usually start with a self-portrait, including features of the studio, and expand to include imaginary figures and landscapes. Lately I have been experimenting with dolls hand-sewn from recycled and found materials. Drawing is quick, doll-making is slow, both are familiar and accessible.

I am investigating the queer concerns of safe space, body acceptance, aging, and the policing of desire. I am also interested in what moves children to fantasize about adulthood and adults to nostalgize childhood. I hope to foster humor and connection in an anxious world.
